TWO PRINCES as performed by Spin Doctors available on POCKET FULL OF KRYPTONITE (Epic 7464-47461) transcribed by Dan Amrich - DanAmrich@aol.com Someone requested some Spins, so I'll start it off with their first big single. Pretty easy, with a straightforward groove that you can get into and have fun with. A close approximation of the rhythm pattern: D Bm A G E ---10-10--------7--7----5-5--------3--3---------------------- B ---10-10--------7--7----5-5--------3--3---------------------- G ---11-11--------7--7----6-6--------4--4---------------------- D ---12-12--------9--9----7-7--------5--5---------------------- A ---12-12--------9--9----7-7--------5--5---------------------- E ---10-10-----7--7--7----5-5-----3--3--3---------------------- That's the the refrain, the rhythm under the solo, and first part of the verses. The second part of the verse, "Marry him or marry me," is as follows: G D C D E ---7---------------------10---------------10--------9----10--- B ---8---------------------10---------------10--------9----10--- G ---7---------------------11---------------11--------10---11--- D ---9---------------------12---------------12--------11---12--- A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- Marry him or marry me I'm the one that loves you baby can't C D G A E ---9---10----------7------------------------------7-/-9------- B ---9---10----------8------------------------------8-/-10------ G ---10--11----------7------------------------------7-/-9------- D ---11--12----------9------------------------------9-/-11------ A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- you see I ain't got no future or a family tree but I know E ----------------------------------------9-\------------------- B ----------------------------------------10\------------------- G ----------------------------------------9-\------------------- D ----------------------------------------11\------------------- A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- what a prince and lover ought to be; I know what a prince... The forward slash means "slide from fret A UP to fret B;" the backslash means slide DOWN the neck (as suggested in the Suggested.Tab.Notation file at the archive). As for the solo, here goes: D Bm A G E -------------------------------------------------------------- B -------------------------------------------------------------- G -------------------------------------------------------------- D -------------------------------------------------------------- A -------------------------------------------------------------- E ---10--10-10-10-13b(14)-10-10--10-10-10--10-10--10-10-13b(14)- E -------------------------------------------------------------- B -------------------------------------------------------------- G -------------------------------------------------------------- D ----------------------------------------------10--10-10--12\-- A -------------------------------------10----12----------------- E ---10-10-10--10-10--10-10-13b(14)-10----10-------------------- E --------------10----------------10-9-----------10b(10.5)-9---- B ----------------------12-12--12------10--10-10---------------- G -----11----11------------------------------------------------- D --12----12---------------------------------------------------- A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- B --12-10------------------------------------------------------- G --------11---------------------------------------------------- D -----------12--12-12-9-9-9-9-12-11b(11.5)-11b(11.5)----------- A ----------------------------------------------------12-------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- E -----------------------------10----------10------------------- B --------------------------12----------12----10b(12)----------- G --------------------12----------12------------------12-------- D ---------9-----12------12------------------------------------- A -10---10---10----12------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- E ------------------------------------------------------------- B -12-11-10---------------------------------------------------- G ----------12-10-9--------------------------------12----14-12- D ------------------12-10----------------/12-14-12----12------- A ------------------------12-11-10----------------------------- E ---------------------------------13-10----------------------- E ----------------------------------12------------------------- B --12------12-14b(15)------13b(14)----(14)b13-12-------------- G ----14-12------------12------------------------14--12-14-14-- D ------------------------------------------------------------- A ------------------------------------------------------------- E ------------------------------------------------------------- E ------------14b(15)-12----------------/14-14-13-14-13-14-12--- B -----------------------14b(15)-12----------------------------- G --12-14-14------------------------12-------------------------- D -------------------------------------------------------------- A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- E -10-12-10----------------------------------------------------- B -------------------------------------------------------------- G -------------------------------------------------------------- D -------------------------------------------------------------- A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- One two princes kneel before you... After the drum break, the ryhthm pattern changes a bit: E -------------------10--10-----5--5-----3-5-3-2---------------- B ------------7------10--10-----5--5-----3-5-3-3---------------- G ---------7--7------11--11-----6--6-----4-6-4-2---------------- D ---7--9------------------------------------------------------- A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- That riff continues until "Go on, forget the king and marry me;" then it switches back to the main riff until it fades out. I don't claim that the solo is completely accurate; I play ryhthm, and I neither profess or wish to be a lead guitarist. It's what I think I hear from the CD, or at least melodic- sounding fakes where I'm truly lost. I've tried to throw in bends and hammer-ons/pull offs where I think they are. And hey, if you *really* don't like it, just remember how much you paid... :) THE LYRICS (from the CD booklet): V1 One, two, princes kneel before you (that's what I said now) Princes, princes who adore you (just go ahead now) One has diamonds in his pockets (that's some bread now) This one, he wants to buy you rockets (ain't in his head now) V2 This one, he got a princely racket (that's what I said now) Got some big seal upon his jacket (ain't in his head now) Marry him, your father will condone you (how 'bout that now) Marry me, your father will disown you (he'll eat his hat now) Aww, marry him or marry me I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see I ain't got no future or a family tree but I know what a prince and lover ought to be I know what a prince and lover ought to be REF Said if you want to call me baby (just go ahead now) And if you want to tell me maybe (just go ahead now) If you wanna buy me flowers (just go ahead now) And if you want to talk for hours (just go ahead now) SOLO V3 Said one, two, princes kneel before you (that's what I said now) Princes, princes who adore you (just go ahead now) One has diamonds in his pockets (that's some bread now) This one, he wants to buy you rockets (ain't in his head now) Marry him or marry me I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see I ain't got no future or a family tree but I know what a prince and lover ought to be I know what a prince and lover ought to be REF (DRUM BREAKDOWN) Said if you want to call me baby (just go ahead now) And if you want to tell me maybe (just go ahead now) If you wanna buy me flowers (just go ahead now) And if you want to talk for hours (just go ahead now) And if you want to call me baby (just go ahead now) And if you want to tell me maybe (just go ahead now) If you wanna buy me flowers (just go ahead now) And if you want to talk for hours (just go ahead now) If you want to be me baby (just go ahead now) If you want to tell me maybe (just go ahead now) If you want to buy me flowers (just go ahead now) If you'd like to talk for hours (just go ahead now) Whoa, baby Whoa, just go ahead now Oh, your majesty C'mon forget the king and marry me... I encourage anyone who's downloaded songs from FTP.NEVADA.EDU to type in a tune or two they know -- even if it's a part of the song, or simple open chords, or a few riffs -- to help the archive effort. Give a little back; there's a lot for you to take. Dan DanAmrich@aol.com
